Trudy Fleming
The director of TRF Group, Trudy Fleming, has been a specialist electrologist and educator for more than 35 years, and has extensive experience both in the clinical aspect and as a trainer. As Laser and Intense Pulsed Light became available for hair removal; so Trudy’s focus moved into this area. Trudy first attended a comprehensive Laser and Pulsed Light course in Massachusetts, USA in 2001 and shortly after started using Intense Pulsed Light in her own clinics.
Trudy returned to the USA in 2002 for further study with clinical, medical and scientific specialists and was also a guest lecturer whilst there. Trudy continued to broaden her knowledge and visited Denmark in 2003 to study with specialists there. Trudy has also traveled to the UK to obtain the BTEC Laser & Intense Pulsed Light hair removal qualification. Besides specialist training, Trudy has also obtained two Australian Laser Safety qualifications and of course is a qualified teacher, graduating from Melbourne University with a diploma in teaching in 1997. She also possesses a Certificate IV in Trainer and Assessor. Trudy is a Fellow of the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery [ASLMS] and attends their conference and workshops annually.
All this specialist knowledge , on top of the clinical work at the Fleming clinics puts Trudy and her training staff in a unique position to offer the best in Laser and Pulsed Light education.
Trudy’s teaching style is unique. She has a very relaxed manner which attracts people, putting students at ease. This way she is able to get the best from those that attend her courses. People are not afraid to ask questions and join in to their fullest. When English is not your first language, Trudy is especially helpful and understanding. Having taught adults for years, Trudy is very aware of the implications of going back to study, and also the difficulties when bringing up a family, working and studying simultaneously, [she has done it all herself so has first hand experience!]. You will not feel threatened or intimidated by Trudy, but are welcomed into the world she is passionate about.
- Qualified in Electrology in 1975 in London, UK from the Tao Clinic. A specialist Electrologist, and have worked solely in this field for over 35 years.
- Worked in various large beauty salons in London for 7 years with clients and in a teaching capacity, finally, head electrologist in Harrods, Knightsbridge.
- Arrived in Melbourne Australia in 1982.
- Diploma in teaching, [TAFE] from Melbourne University, 1997.
- Former teacher and coordinator of electrolysis [10 years] at Victoria University.
- Member APAA
- CPE – Certified Professional Electrologist. This is an internationally recognized qualification, which needs to be renewed every 5 years by sitting an exam each time in the USA. Exam last re-sat, and passed, in October 2005.
- Attend American Electrology Association [AEA] conventions most years.
- Have had private tuition and advanced training with Michael Bono in Santa Barbara, California. Michael is the acclaimed world expert in blend electrolysis.
- Tuition with John Fantz, another acclaimed world expert, in Los Angeles, and at a school in San Francisco.
- Specialist in Body Technique electrolysis, which is a high intensity treatment involving local anesthesia, and permanently removes body hair in a remarkably short time, as taught to me by Michael Bono.
- Holds regular training courses in Advanced Electrolysis and Telangiectasia procedures at the Fleming Institute.
- Have run seminars in various TAFE and private schools though-out Australia and New Zealand.
- Writes articles for the Professional Beauty magazine, Australia, and occasionally for the Association of Beauty Therapists, NZ, and other association magazines.
- Writes regular articles for www.beautymagonline.com, an on-line beauty magazine for industry members.
- March 2001, participated in an intensive week-long training course in the theory and practical application of all types of laser hair removal in Boston USA. Hands on experience with Ruby, Alexandrite, Nd:Yag, Diode and IPL.
- August 2002 studied IPL in MA USA with clinical and scientific personnel.
- Lectured on Intense Pulsed Light in Massachusetts USA 2002.
- Obtained two Laser Safety certificates in 2002: University of New South Wales [Australian Defense Force Academy] and Australian Centre for Medical Laser Technology.
- Guest speaker at CIDESCO annual world conference, Adelaide, March 2003.
- June 2003 week long study course in IPL in Copenhagen, Denmark.
- Guest speaker at various conferences in Australia and New Zealand.
- June 2004 participated in BTEC laser &IPL hair removal course in UK. Passed the exam.
- October/November 2005 went to the USA and UK furthering my education with engineers and technical experts at various IPL manufacturers.
- Currently owns a very busy clinic in Melbourne, - The Fleming Clinics, specializing in electrolysis, Laser hair removal, IPL hair removal, skin rejuvenation, pigment and vascular treatments and ionzyme skin treatments.
- September 2006 – Opened a registered school [RTO 21842] – Fleming Institute of Aesthetic Technology
