Safety and Clinical Applications using Intense Pulsed Light

The Course in Safety and Clinical Applications using Intense Pulsed Light is the first accredited, comprehensive course of its kind in Australia that focuses on IPL. The course has 5 units of competency delivered over 5 days covering the following units: NRT Logo
  • Apply Knowledge of Light in Clinical Applications
  • Apply Knowledge of Safety in a Clinical Environment
  • Apply Principles of Light Treatment
  • Provide Pulsed Light Treatment
  • Update Knowledge of Pulsed Light Technology

The course offers means to absorb and apply theoretical knowledge, including safety issues based on laser safety standards. Time for role playing is a major consideration, to develop consultation techniques and skills so the client has realistic and clear expectations of treatment. And of course plenty of time for practical hands-on with a variety of IPL systems. Although you will be returning to your salon/clinic to work with one specific machine, your training with a variety will give you a better in-depth knowledge of light based systems and how to work and adapt them to varying client needs.

Most supplier-based training is product knowledge, related to their particular IPL system and limited in it’s time and scope. Fleming Institute aims to offer unbiased, serious education from professional, qualified trainers. The training is offered over a longer time-frame as there is more information to impart and for you to absorb, and greater time is given to develope your skills. This will lead to a higher standard of expertise which the public are looking for, the insurance industry are looking for, and will give you greater confidence and an edge in this ever competitive arena.

Training in the use of various diagnostic tools will aid safety and enhance your professional treatment procedures and results. A major part of your training experience with us will be serious hands-on application techniques in the various modes of pulsed light on a variety of models and with a variety of IPL systems. Assessment is always a part of recognised training but is performed in a none threatening and encouraging manner and in a variety of forms to suit individual learning styles; written paper, oral questioning, practical demonstrations, assignments etc. We are situated in a purpose designed school premises, which although modern and highly professional, offers a friendly, comfortable environment, conducive to learning. All manuals, and morning and afternoon refreshments are provided while on course [BYO lunch].

Theory classes are offered in a professional training room with full audio visual technology and practical sessions in completely fitted out treatment rooms with a variety of IPL systems and client/models with a range of hair and skin conditions to simulate real day to day expectations. Qualified trainers have wide experience with a variety of systems and situational environments to be able to fully facilitate your learning experience. The school is situated adjacent to a working clinic to allow students to fully appreciate the day to day running of a laser and pulsed light clinic. A variety of technology associated with professional treatment will be encompassed into the training: calibration systems, diagnostic equipment, melanin, vascular and skin analysers, LEDs Polaroid camera and digital cameras along with a wide range of safety eye wear for technician and client.

This course is available for doctors, nurses and beauty therapists. If you are new to the industry you will be required to obtain underpinning knowledge first, by studying a series of theory based science subjects. Please discuss this requirement with the institute.
